Dave Simpson

Director

Dave joined our Healthcare team in March 2021.  He has over 10 years post qualification property experience and has been working in the healthcare sector since 2015.

His healthcare experience includes valuations, rent reviews and lease renewals as well as sale & leaseback of primary care properties.

Dave is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients whilst expanding Aitchison Raffety’s presence within the primary care sector throughout the country.

David West

Area Director - Manchester

David is the Area Director for Manchester and northwest at Aitchison Raffety. David has been a qualified Chartered Surveyor for over 22 years and has extensive experience with a range of commercial practices in the northwest, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

David advises on a broad spectrum of commercial, residential and development assets throughout the north of England.

Valuations are predominantly for secured lending purposes, although also for solicitors, financial organisations and private clients.

David joined Aitchison Raffety from Manchester based firm, WT Gunson Chartered Surveyors, where he headed up their Valuation department for 5 years.

Faye Turner

Associate Director - Business Rates

Faye is an Associate Director for the Business Rates Department having joined Aitchison Raffety in February 2024. Faye has a wealth of experience in business rates having worked in the industry for just over 10 years.

Previously, Faye worked for a large Real Estate Development company where she provided an invaluable service ensuring the business rates liability was always kept to a minimum. Faye is experienced in handling all types of appeals in relation to Offices, Warehouses & Retail properties and also has extensive knowledge relating to business rates mitigation strategies.

Hashim Azhar

Surveyor

I began my career as a graduate with Knight Frank within their global HQ in London, whereby I completed my graduate scheme undertaking seats in resi vals, asset management, public sector advisory and restructuring. I became qualified in November 2023, before moving back to Manchester and thereby joining Aitchison Raffety in December 2024.

Fun fact: I am born on the 29^th February and therefore a leap year baby!

Hayley Mackenzie

Senior Surveyor

Hayley is a Senior Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer covering the North East and Yorkshire regions at Aitchison Raffety. Hayley brings a range of experience, with her most recent role being in Public Sector valuation following qualification as a Chartered Surveyor in 2021. Hayley joined Aitchison Raffety having worked at the Valuation Office Agency, advising Public Sector clients, with a focus on Red Book valuations, financial reporting valuations and development viability/appraisals.

Hayley advises on a broad spectrum of commercial, residential and development assets throughout the North of England. Valuations are undertaken primarily for secured lending purposes predominantly, although Hayley also advises private clients, solicitors, financial organisations, and developers.

Hayley was also shortlisted as a finalist for ‘RICS Matrics Surveyor of the Year Awards 2023’ in the Valuation Surveyor of the Year category.

Irfan Arif

Senior Surveyor

Irfan is a Senior Surveyor working out of our Manchester office covering the North West region and brings a broad range of experience spanning both Public & Private sectors. Irfan qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer in 2014 and worked for a Manchester based commercial firm before joining a national panel firm undertaking residential valuations and home buyer surveys.

Irfan advises on a wide spectrum of commercial and residential assets including HMO’s and investments throughout the region. Whilst valuations are undertaken primarily for secured lending purposes Irfan also advises private clients.

Qualifications: MSc (Hons) MRICS, Registered Valuer.

Paddy Waldron

Surveyor

Paddy joined Aitchison Raffety in September 2025 and has a degree in Building Surveying from studying in Leeds but came across an opportunity in business rates, which he has now been specialising in since 2021. He deals with organising his own workload, handling client’s cases, inspections, analysing the rental markets, liaising with clients, and dealing with Challenge cases with caseworkers consistently over multiple rating list periods.

Fun Fact: I love football and play in an 8 a side league every week. I love going to Manchester City matches. I like going to gigs and going on hikes with my girlfriend or friends. I love spending time with my family as I have 6 nieces/nephews.

Stuart Hesketh

Client Relationship Director

Stuart has over forty years of experience in various aspects of marketing and client relationship roles, with the last 26 years focused specifically on the commercial property market. He joined AR in December 2003 and has since played a key role in designing, overseeing, and continuously enhancing our Athena commercial property database. Athena is used by our business rates team to support and maintain existing client relationships while also identifying new opportunities for both clients and non-clients alike. Stuart remains proud of his role in managing and supporting his client relationship colleagues and assisting clients, both old and new.

Fun Fact: Stuart is an avid culture vulture, a bibliophile who’s home houses several thousand books on ancient and medieval history. At an early age he had intended to become an archaeologist, until he realised there was no future in it. When not working or reading he may be found walking the moors with his dog or working out in his home gym.
