Aitchison Raffety were appointed by a care home operator to object to a proposed change of use of a an adjacent listed building to a children’s day nursery in Leicester. The objection outlined the inappropriateness of the proposal on the following grounds:
- The impact of the use upon the amenity of the surrounding properties through excess noise levels;
- Visual impact upon the setting of the listed building, conservation area and street scene; and
- Parking and access issues which would exacerbate highway safety concerns.
Leicester City Council subsequently refused the application on these grounds.
