David was appointed the Chairman of Aitchison Raffety in 2020 and ensures that the Executive Board is effective in its task of setting and implementing the company’s three-year strategy, and in doing so represents the interests of the company’s shareholders. He is also responsible for identifying and advising on reducing property costs for larger corporate occupiers with a particular focus on rental and rate liabilities.
David has over 30 years’ experience within the property industry having originally trained in the Valuation Office Agency. He acts on behalf of regional, national and international clients of industrial, office and retail premises and also has specialist experience in generating savings on behalf of ratepayers occupying leisure premises including hotels, restaurants, public houses, leisure clubs and golf courses.
On joining the company in 1988 David was involved in property valuation and asset management on behalf of corporate occupiers. Following the Revaluation in 1990, recognising the increased burden of business rates for companies, David set up a research and marketing department and developed the Business Rates team.
As Managing Director from 2007 David worked with the Aitchison Raffety Heads of Department (including Valuation, Asset/Property Management, Building Survey, Business Rates, Planning, Agency and Landlord & Tenant) to offer professional solutions to the property challenges faced by corporate occupiers.
