Hertfordshire based Rennie Grove Hospice Care, is pleased to announce that their 6th annual Question of Sport charity dinner has raised a wonderful £43,000. Set at the glamorous Sopwell House, St Albans, the event, held on 13th March, is sponsored by Aitchison Raffety and brought together 250 guests from across Hertfordshire.
Following a drinks reception amongst a dazzling array of quality raffle prizes and unique auction items, Mark Bunting, Group Director at headline sponsor Aitchison Raffety, welcomed guests. He explained how, in the past year, he and his colleagues have seen first-hand the compassion and dedication of Rennie Grove’s nurses. Mark also encouraged other businesses to work with the Rennie Grove team.
After a splendid 3-course dinner it was over to Sky Sports presenter, St Albans resident and long-time supporter of Rennie Grove, Geoff Shreeves who got the quiz underway.
Whilst the points were totted up Rennie Grove’s Director of Nursing, Sue Varvel spoke movingly about the charity’s children’s service and the care its nurses provide to babies and children who have life-limiting health conditions. She emphasises how the charity depended on fundraising events such as Question of Sport and thanked everyone attending for their generosity.
A lively auction followed with some of the outstanding items including a made-to-measure suit from Cerimonia, the chance to design your own fabulous diamond jewellery thanks to Galio jewellers and a once in a lifetime chance to spend the day at the Sky Studios with the Soccer Saturday team.
A presentation to the worthy winners of the hotly contested quiz, Rennie Grove corporate patrons Mercer and Hole brought the evening to a close.
