Racehorses Benefit from Recycled Paper

26/10/2007

Our Milton Keynes office has found a novel way to re-cycle its shredded paper.    It is being used as stable bedding at Gina Swan’s racehorse rehabilitation and pre-training centre near Towcester.

The idea came from commercial surveyor Jimmy James who rides out at the centre. He explains: “Some horses unfortunately eat straw and consequently suffer from stomach colic which can cause death.  Luckily these horses are not tempted to eat paper so it makes an excellent substitute and we are delighted to be able to re-cycle the paper in this way.”

Gina is pictured with Lucky Master and Jimmy James with Gritti Palace as he delivers more shredded paper.  Both horses are straw eaters but are now healthy and resuming careers with Lucky Master now training as a show jumper and Gritti Palace hoping to become a successful hurdler.
